Job 42:3 ‘Who is this that hides counsel without knowledge?’
“Therefore I have declared that which I did not understand,
Job 42:5 “I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear;
But now my eye sees You; Things too wonderful for me, which I did not know.
Job 42:10 ¶ The LORD restored the fortunes of Job when he prayed for his friends, and the LORD increased all that Job had twofold.
Following up on yesterday, Job had come to the place where he trusted in the goodness of God, and therefore His wonderful purposes, even though he was still in pain, and didn’t yet see or understand what good God could be up to. To come to that place, where you have unshakable confidence in God’s love, and His constant kind intentions, is monumental in your walk with The Lord. It opens you up to the twofold (double) anointing that we always hear about. Even though Job couldn’t see with the eyes of his head anything good in his situation, he had now come to the place where the eyes of his spirit could see the true nature of God (even in the midst of tragedy) able to bring about wonderful, redemptive purposes. To be able to look for, look to, and trust in the goodness of God frees you to rest in Him. Resting in, and thus reigning from the authority of His goodness changes the way you see, not just circumstances, but fallen people, and ministry opportunities. In all realms His kind intentions are at work, straining to prevail. Our faith is not in how much faith we have, but how good He is. When you sin, do you know, having confessed your sin, you are forgiven because you have enough faith to believe it , or because you are convinced that He is good. When you pray for the sick, do you believe they will be healed because you have enough faith, or because He is so good, and again, as in Job’s story, when everything seems dark, and lost do you find peace in your faith or in His goodness. Here is the point; you do have peace because you have faith, but you have faith because you’ve become convinced He is good, and His wonderful intentions will prevail. Again, seeing with these new set of eyes, releases you into a level of faith that releases His double in your life.
