Eph. 2:14, For He Himself is our peace…
John 14:27, Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.
To the world, peace is the absence of things in the environment or in the atmosphere. The absence of chaos, or the absence of conflict, or the absence of some personality that creates conflict or chaos, or the absence of any other kind of stressors is how the world finds peace. But peace that passes understanding is the presence of something and not the absence of something.
Peace is the presence of the person Jesus, for Peace Is a Person. All that Jesus is belongs to us in Christ. Jesus doesn’t just give me strength; He is my strength. He doesn’t just give me joy; He is my joy. He doesn’t just give me patience; He is my patience. Etc. etc…. And He doesn’t just give me peace; He is my peace. My union with Him means I am in union with His peace, and when Jesus is your peace, He impacts and changes the atmosphere and environment in you and around you instead of you being impacted by the circumstance. Even if chaos continues to fight for attention on the outside, Jesus being your peace subdues the storm on your inside. That kind of supernatural peace releases an authority that will eventually influence your external environment. When Jesus is your peace, He acts like a thermostat that controls the environment instead of a thermometer controlled by the external. Abiding in Him, drawing on and resting in His presence and adequacy for all things and in all situations, releases the manifestation of His peace, which is limitless and uninfluenced by chaos.
