1Cor. 3:9 For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.
Scene in Heaven Revelation 4:1
1After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven, and the first voice which I had heard, like the sound of a trumpet speaking with me, said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after these things.”
These are two really interesting verses concerning prayer. The Revelation verse tells us that God welcomes us into an intimate place where He opens the door which separates Heaven from Earth. In those moments, He invites us up, and reveals to us the the purposes of God. In light of the fact that the Corinthian passage states that we are fellow workers with God, I’m convinced that at least one of the reasons He invites into the Heavens is to reveal to us His purposes, so that we can participate in those purposes coming to pass through our prayers.
Paul Bilhiemer wrote a book called “Destined for The Throne.” In that book Bilhiemer states that he believes that God does nothing on the Earth apart from the prayers of His people. Even His stated purposes wait for God’s fellow workers to pray so they can come to pass. This according to Bilhiemer, is God way of teaching us as His Bride to reign with Him throughout eternity.
I would say that prayer is mainly about intimacy, but I would also say that there are other exciting things about prayer, and being involved in discovering and implementing His purposes (through prayer) is certainly one of them. Just think of how much God values you. Think of your true significance. The King of the universe invites you into the Board Room of Heaven to reveal to you His purposes for Earth so that you can help implement them through your prayers. Of course we are called to wait on God, but just think, He waits on you as His fellow worker to participate in His plans.
Oh, you Kings and Queens of Narnia, have a great day living under an open Heaven!
