I’ve always envied Mary because of how God involve her in His purposes at such a high level and the supernatural activity that surrounded her life. She was probably between 16 and 18 years old, which tells us that age, whether young or elderly, doesn’t matter to God when He is looking for someone to use and pour out his favor on.
When the angel Gabriel addresses Mary with the phrase “Hail favored one, the Lord is with you,” the grammar in that phrase indicates that Mary had already positioned her heart to be able to receive the favor of God in profound ways. God saw something in her heart that He was attracted to and moved Him to choose her to carry and bring forth his great redemptive plan. Make no mistake, God did not just arbitrarily choose this young woman; He chose her because He saw something in her that His heart was drawn to.
I so long and desire to follow Mary’s example. I want to allow the Holy Spirit to do such a work in my heart that God would not be hesitant to use me in anyway He desires. I want whatever it takes to position my heart so that God is zealous over my life, so that He will find me irresistible as far as His plans and favor are concerned.
