2Cor. 5:17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.
Are we Christ enclosed people? I believe this is the real question that each of us must daily ask ourselves as we walk out this Christian life in the midst of the cosmic conflict we are all engaged in. It is true that, as new creations, each of us are in Christ; for that alone is what makes us New Creations. But I have discovered in my life and in the lives of other believers that even though I know that I am in Christ, as far as position and identity is concerned, sometimes I don’t live as if I were a Christ enclosed person.
You see, being in Christ we are literally enclosed by His Lordship; His leadership, His identity, His adequacy and ability, His history and reality as far as sin is concerned (that is His relationship to the guilt and power of sin), His future, and His power and authority. We are enclosed by His love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control.
To be a Christ-enclosed person is to surrender to all of that, trusting it all to be the truth about you and your life. It is to live with the continuous and abiding awareness that you are in Him and that everything about you is summed up in Jesus, surrendering to and trusting in His life, leadership, and story being told through you by His limitless supernatural power. It is to know that the new self that you are is lost in His life, swallowed up by His uncompromising will, controlled by His total adequacy, and living from His already fully accomplished victory in everything.
