2Cor.4:6 , For God, who said, “Light shall shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.
Ex.33:18 Then Moses said, “I pray You, show me Your glory!” 19 And He said, “I Myself will make all My goodness pass before you, and will proclaim the name of the LORD before you; and I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show compassion on whom I will show compassion.”
If you want to find the glory of God then the place to look is the face of Christ. When you see the bloodied, spit covered, bruised, swollen face of Jesus, then you have the brightest expression of the glory of God. When Moses asked for God to show him His glory, God responded by saying that He would make His goodness pass before him. It is when we encounter the goodness of God that we encounter and experience His glory at the highest level.
When David said in Psalm 27 that he wanted to behold the “beauty of the Lord,” he was referring to all of the expressions of God’s glory. His beauty is limitless, but He is never more beautiful than when He manifest His goodness. God is love, and never has God’s love (His goodness) been more clearly revealed than in the face of Christ as He hung on the Cross, declaring God’s infinite, and terminal “thirst” for love. In His humiliation, vulnerability, and suffering, Jesus revealed the true nature of God’s goodness and love. On the Cross, in the face of Jesus, God’s glory is revealed, and beauty is redefined.
