Heb.1:3, And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power.
Col.1:17, He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.
Is.6:3, (The cry of the Seraphim)
“Holy, Holy, Holy, is the LORD of hosts,
The whole earth is full of His glory.”
The triune Godhead works in perfect unity. Thoughts come from the heart and mind of the Father. Jesus, as the word of God gives voice to the heart and mind of the Father, and the Holy Spirit who hovers over things creates that which has been voiced. So when it says that Jesus is upholding all things by the word of His power, He is doing that via the Holy Spirit. It is the Holy Spirit who is upholding all things in response to the word of His power, therefore making the very presence of Jesus incarnational in everything around us.
Think about that for a moment, as we learn to practice the presence of the Lord. Every molecule of your being, and every being and thing around you, are being actively sustained at this moment by the Holy Spirit. He is here; at working, keeping every atom from falling apart. I don’t know about you, but that causes everything around me to carry a sense of sacredness and holy immanence (presence). Every breath I take is because the Holy Spirit is making it happen. Every word that I speak involves His presence in the sense that He is sustaining my vocal chords and sound. Everything that I look at happens because my eyes work, and they only work because the very molecules and atoms that make my eyes work are being sustained by the Holy Spirit. The very chair that I am sitting in is being a chair because the Holy Spirit is actively making that happen
The immanence of the triune God involved in everything being sustained around me helps me to be a worshiper, offering everything that I do as a service of worship in response to His presence and sustaining power and goodness. No wonder the angels cry “the whole earth is full of His glory.”
