Jn.4:31 Meanwhile the disciples were urging Him, saying, “Rabbi, eat.” 32 But He said to them, “I have food to eat that you do not know about.” 33 So the disciples were saying to one another, “No one brought Him anything to eat, did he?” 34 Jesus *said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to accomplish His work.
In John chapter 4 Jesus arrived at Jacobs well in the city of Sychar weary, and hungry. After his encounter with the Samaritan woman His disciples brought Him food to eat that they had bought in the town, yet Jesus was no longer hungry telling them in verse 32, “I have food to eat that you do not know about.” When His disciples began to ask began to ask each other if anyone had brought Jesus food already, Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent me, and to accomplish His work.”
Isn’t it interesting that Jesus knew increase, even concerning His natural needs, as He gave away His will to the Father, and the life that He carried in Him to the Samaritan woman.
The Holy Spirit keeps flowing in us and through us as we live our lives as if we were pipes open at both ends. One of the great principles of the Christian life his “WE ONLY KNOW INCREASE WHEN WE GIVE AWAY.” We are called to freely give what we’ve freely received, according to Matthew 10:8; and I would also say, “That we will only keep receiving freely, as we keep giving freely.”
