John 1:18 Amplified
No man has ever seen God at any time; the only unique Son, or the only begotten God, Who is in the bosom [in the intimate presence] of the Father, He has declared Him [He has revealed Him and brought Him out where He can be seen; He has interpreted Him and He has made Him known].
My Spiritual Father used to say, “Jesus came to tell the truth about God. He did that by telling the truth about Man, for the truth about Man is that he was created to tell the truth about God.” Jesus came as the second Man; the second Adam. Though never anything less than 100% God, He was also 100% Man, who emptied Himself and lived as a spirit filled man to show us the destiny and purpose we were created to live, and to show us how to live it. Go back and read John 14:8-10, and Acts 2:22 and discover what Jesus said about Himself, and what is said about Him. Jesus said that if you saw Him you saw the Father. Jesus didn’t say He was the Father, He just said He revealed the Father. That was His purpose, to reveal the ways, the heart, the likeness of God that flowed from an intimate love-faith relationship with His Father. In doing this, as the Son of Man, He preached Man’s destiny and purpose. He revealed our nobility once lost in the Fall, now restored in His advent. Only by becoming Man could paradise lost be recovered, and Man’s dignity be exalted. Jesus didn’t come to condemn us, but to save us, John 3:17. He didn’t come to destroy Humanity, but to restore Humanity the the exalted nobility we were created for. He did come to take the fallen False Self to the Cross, so that in His resurrection the New Humanity, the one Adam and Eve were created to be, could be realized. When we become Christians our Union with His death and resurrection becomes real, and there is restored to us, and in us, the relationship and the presence to once again be the Image Bearers and the Likeness Revealers that Man was created to be, and thus restored to us our remarkable destiny and purpose that we live out everyday in the big and small of life. Have a great day In Christ.
