Jesus said in John 17 verse four,” I glorified you on the earth Father, having accomplish the work which you gave me to do. Then in John 17 verse six Jesus said,” I manifested your name to the men whom you gave me out of the world.” There were two phases of the work of Jesus on the earth. The first phase He describes here in John 17 verse four and verse six. The second phase was accomplished by His death, burial, and resurrection, which is yet to come. Yet, before His death, He states that He already, in some sense accomplished the work that The Father had given Him to. Jesus describes that work that He had already accomplished by declaring that He had manifested the Father’s name to the men the father gave him out of the world. That means that Jesus’ first work was to simply reveals the Fathers likeness to the small group of men The Father had given Him. Sometimes we don’t think we’ve done the work of God until we’ve done something big and spectacular. Many Christians feel like failures because they’ve not done anything very famous in the eyes of men, for God. The truth is our first and foremost calling is to simply walk in The Spirit and reveal the likeness of Jesus to the people God put into our inner circle of life. Simply allowing Christ to live His life through us in the mundane issues of daily life, before the people who are around yo,u makes you a rousing success before God. This is our first and great calling. It elevates the simple tasks of life out of the mundane into the glorious. Do you want to have an impact. Do you want a life that matters, then manifest the likeness of Jesus, at home, at school, at work, out shopping, ect. No greater work for God has ever been done. Jesus didn’t die for the world until He had first lived before the few closest to Him, the life of The Father. He accomplished the first work first. You could have the biggest ministry in the world with all kinds of signs and wonders, but if the fruit of The Spirit isn’t released through your life in the simple daily stuff, then you are an abject failure. Every moment counts for eternity.
