Matt. 2:1 Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying,
Matt. 2:2 “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him.”
Matt. 2:11 After coming into the house they saw the Child with Mary His mother; and they fell to the ground and worshiped Him. Then, opening their treasures, they presented to Him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
Rom. 12:1 Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.
Jesus said The Father is looking for true Worshippers. One of the characteristics of a true worshiper (a true Lovesick one) is that they are always looking for Jesus, and they find Him in the most obscure places. This star was so obscure that we have no mention of anyone else seeing it, though others may have, but it certainly wasn’t part of public conversation. These Gentile Magi somehow knew of the obscure prophecy in Num. 24, or heard some prophetic obscure word orally passed down, and they were LOOKING. An interesting truth is that you will always find what you are looking for. Lovesick Worshippers are always LOOKING for Jesus, and they see, and find Him, and encounter Him everywhere. When they do they always react the same way. They again, ever deeper each time, give Him all they have, no matter the cost. A lovesick bride is always looking for her bridegroom.
