1 The Song of Songs, which is Solomon’s.
2 “May he kiss me with the kisses of his mouth!
For your love is better than wine.
3 “Your oils have a pleasing fragrance,
Your name is like purified oil;
Therefore the maidens love you.
4 “Draw me after you and let us run together!
The king has brought me into his chambers.”
“We will rejoice in you and be glad;
We will extol your love more than wine.
Rightly do they love you.”
The first line of verse 4 can also be translated, “Take me away with You, let us run.” Either translation represent the heart of this verse. This prayer; this heart cry, is pivotal to the Song of Solomon. The rest of the song plays out the Kings affirmative response to her longing, as He takes her away with Him to that “Dwelling Place of Mutual Abiding.” When we have tasted His beauty, and love, our hearts get ruined for anything else, and in our desire for more, we cry out TAKE ME AWAY WITH YOU; LET US RUN. There is a place in Christ, of fellowship and likeness, that He has prepared for us, and He longingly waits for us to say to Him to take us away to that place. This is a prayer, if offered sincerely, that God ALWAYS answers. ALWAYS!!! People often ask me where to start in this glorious grace filled climb, and I always tell them to start here. Ask Him to DRAW YOU AFTER HIM; to take you away from where you are spiritually to that place in the Heights He purchased for you. Jesus said that He came (to live, die, be buried, and rise again) that we might have life, and have it more abundantly. He didn’t just come to forgive your sins and guarantee you a place in Heaven. He came to redeem your humanity to its rightful, and noble place, of being a Dwelling Place, a lovesick Dwelling Place, where His very life can be on full display.
