Song 2:3 “Like an apple tree among the trees of the forest,
So is my beloved among the young men.
In his shade I took great delight and sat down,
And his fruit was sweet to my taste.
Song 2:4 “He has brought me to his banquet hall,
And his banner over me is love.
As army’s gathered to go off to battle, each battalion or tribe formed together under their banner. Their banner represented who they were, as distinguished from the other battalions or tribes. The banners revealed, and declared their identity. His banner over us is “Love.” Everyday we wake up to a “winner takes all” spiritual war, and the banner that declares who we are as we enter into the days battle says, “I am loved.” We do battle by faith. The whole Christian life is a life of faith, but only knowing that we are loved, releases us to live by faith. Those who are confident in love, are confident in faith. Look at Gal.5:6, “…faith working through love.” The grammar in this verse says faith always works through love. The more convinced you are of His love, the confident you’ll be in faith. Trust is built on the foundation that you are confident in His proven love. I live every day conscious that I live under a banner that declares to the physical and spiritual realm that I AM LOVED, and because of that, HE IS FOR ME, and will withhold nothing needed from me. I am My Beloved’s and His Desire is FOR ME, therefore the One who loves me SO can be trusted.
