Is. 41:3 “He pursues them, passing on in safety,
By a way he had not been traversing with his feet.
Is. 41:4 “Who has performed and accomplished it,
Calling forth the generations from the beginning?
‘I, the LORD, am the first, and with the last. I am He.’”
These two verses in Isaiah 41 are fascinating verses, and God has used them to minister to me in profound ways. The Scripture says that God is an all consuming fire and He is always pursuing us wanting ownership of more of our heart, and lives. Sometimes He pursues through paths He has never traversed before. There are times when things happen in our lives that don’t make sense; that are confusing, and can even be extremely painful. In those seasons be assured that God is pursuing you. You might be in a time like that right now when God is pursuing you by a way He’s not been before, but I want you to notice verse three when it says, “He pursues them passing on and safety.” The Hebrew literally means, “He passes through as a trusted Friend; as one with your welfare, and favor toward you; not one with ill intentions.”
Verse 4 says He is the one who is doing this, even if the devil is involved, and He, God, is accomplishing something. The devil isn’t in control. This is God’s story, not the devil’s, and God is, wanting to harvest our hearts at a deeper level. It also says here that God is “calling forth” something. Through these times that look so different, He is calling forth, deeper love; deeper faith; deeper abandonment to His will. He is calling us forth to transformation, and fulness. He is calling us forth to be dwelling places, and testimonies of His presence, activity, and ownership.
