Song 1:12 ¶ “While the king was at his table,
My perfume gave forth its fragrance.
There are a couple of ways to approach this verse, and we will look at both of them. This is the King’s private dining table, where only the selected are invited to feast. Ezekiel 44:13, speaks of the holy chambers where the priests who are near to the Lord eat the most holy things. The Bride is discovering the wonders of feasting in His presence in the secret place. This is one of the more important discoveries if you are going to ascend to the heights in Spirit. Like Mary of Bethany, sitting at His feet and beholding His face, and listening to His voice is to choose the better part. It is there, that our perfume gives forth its fragrance. Perfume speaks of our worship and our affection. As we put away all distractions, and get alone with him, we find ourselves at His table being feeding in His presence, and the result is our love and affection for Him grows. It is alone with Him, in the Secret Place, where he speaks the most precious things to our hearts, and it is there that we fall in Love with Him again and again. I always take my Bible with me, along with pen and paper, into the Secret Place so that God can speak to me through His word if He chooses to, and I can write those things down. I often go back and looks at my journals and incite my heart with those things He spoke to me in the past. I’ve discovered over the years that in those hours I spend behind the veil He does most of the talking, and those words become words of life to me. His presence and His words always stir up my affection, and leave me worshiping Him. Being fed the Word of Life in His Presence always captivates me, and more deeply imprisons my heart for Him. What a joy to sit before the Lovesick King, who delights in loving me, and be fed bread from Heaven.
