One Thing 7/18/22 All grace is already yours

2 Corinthians 9:8 NASB95

And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good work;

This is one of the great verses in the New Testament. It is so powerful and so practical. Let me give you what I believe is a better and more accurate literal translation of this verse.

“The God of limitless ability has super abounded all grace INTO you, so that always and at all times having all sufficiency in everything, you may have a superabundance INTO every good work.”

I often hear Christians pray that God will give them the grace to do certain things or to handle certain situations. I understand their heart, but their understanding of God’s grace, and ways, is faulty. The God of limitless ability has already abounded (actually – super abounded) all grace INTO you. How did He do that? He did it by placing you into the life of Jesus.

“I always thank my God for you because of God’s grace given to you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Cor.1:4)

All grace is already yours because you are in Christ Jesus. All the superabundant grace of God is IN you to abound in life as a supernaturally Christlike wife, husband, parent, son or daughter, neighbor, employee, employer, or just plain human being in every practical life situation is always already yours. 2 Cor. 12:9 says, “My grace is sufficient for you.” That little word “is” doesn’t infer that God’s grace could be sufficient or might be sufficient. Instead, the word “is” proclaims to us that in the now, whatever it is, or whoever it is you are facing, God’s grace is, in the moment, superabundant IN YOU already, therefore, ridiculously sufficient. We need to stop asking God for things he has already said yes to. He has already said yes to all the grace that’s in Christ Jesus being yours. If he has already said yes, then we need to stop begging him and start thanking him in childlike faith. I love the way the King James puts it,” God has abounded ALL grace to you, that you, ALWAYS having ALL sufficiency in ALL things may abound into ALL good works.” We weren’t called to be beggars; we were called in Christ to be celebrants.
