Rom. 8:19, For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God. 20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the glorious freedom of the children of God.
All of creation is waiting for the people of the resurrection, the new creation, to show up to set them free. All of creation will ultimately be redeemed in the new heavens and the new earth, and we the children of resurrection are the first signs, and the hope of new creation. It is important to understand though that redemption does not begin at the end of this age, but began in the resurrection of Christ and at Pentecost when the followers of Christ were first permanently filled with resurrection life in the coming of the Holy Spirit. All creation, including all the people of the earth, have been hoping for us to show up in our glorious freedom, offering them a chance to enter in, out of their slavery and bondage. People of resurrection should be characterized by “glorious freedom,” and that glorious freedom that Easter people walk in is the attraction of hope to a lost and dying world. The power of the resurrection is not first and foremost about people getting to escape this earth and getting to go to heaven; instead it’s about heaven, in resurrection, new creation power, invading the Earth, through the redeemed who walk in the glorious freedom of resurrection life. You are an invading liberating alien army who are called to take your glorious freedom, that flows from resurrection life in you, into every place, and into every relationship, destroying the works of the devil, increasing the boundaries of the kingdom of God until the kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ.
