Song 3:9 “King Solomon has made for himself a sedan chair
From the timber of Lebanon.
Song 3:10 “He made its posts of silver,
Its back of gold
And its seat of purple fabric,
With its interior lovingly fitted out
By the daughters of Jerusalem.
The purple seat is fascinating, and we will slowly draw from all that Jesus has for us here. Purple is the color of royalty, and of course a royal seat speaks of a place of authority and reign. Obviously, this traveling sedan chair was made for a King, and by placing us in Christ He has called us to share His seat of royalty and authority. 1 Peter 2:9 says we are a “Royal Priesthood,” and Ephesians 2:6, says that we have been “seated in the heavenly places, in Christ.” We’ve not just been rescued form sin and self, we’ve been called to reign in life through Christ. Rom. 5:17 says, “For if by the transgression of the one, (Adam) death reigned through the one, much more those who receive the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness will REIGN IN LIFE through the one, Christ Jesus.”
God has called us to reign in life; this life, not just life in Heaven one day. Song of Solomon 4:13 refers to “the chariots (sedan chair) of my noble people.” Because you are in Christ, you are a person of nobility. You aren’t just anybody; you are royalty and nobility. The devil knows who you are, and how much authority you have, (the same as Christ) and he lives in terror that you might find out one day, and start exercising it. That’s why he is always putting thoughts of rejection, and condemnation in your head. He is trying to keep you distracted and beat down, so you’ll never discover the truth about your true identity.
