One Thing 1/7/15

Heb. 11:11 By faith even Sarah herself received ability to conceive, even beyond the proper time of life, since she considered Him faithful who had promised.

I often have people ask me to pray for them that God would give them the grace to do one thing or another, or to bear up under one thing or another. I’m at the place where I’ll no longer do that, because I would be denying the truth in praying that way. When God promised Sara that she would give birth to a child, His provision, power, and ability was at that point already hers. Anything that God has called you to, or has called you to stand in, automatically carries with it His total provision to walk it out. Again, 2 Corinthians 9:8, says that the God of limitless ability has already made all grace to abound to you, and that you are always having, not just hoping to have, but are already having all sufficiency for everything. Therefore, for me to pray for someone who is in Christ to have the ability, or the grace to do something that God has called them to, or into, is to deny the truth. The moment God gave Sarah the promise, she had the ability; all she had to do at that point was to receive the ability of God that she already had. The sad reality is that most Christians live their Christian lives begging God to give them what they already have, and therefore though having it, they never get to experience it. What is needed is for faith to be exercised so they can lay hold of what already is their’s. So when I pray for people, I don’t pray for them to get grace, instead I pray that they will exercise their faith and simply receive the grace that they already possess.
