Josh. 1:3 “Every place on which the sole of your foot treads, I have given it to you, just as I spoke to Moses.
Josh. 1:6 “Be strong and courageous,
Josh. 1:7 “Only be strong and very courageous;
Josh. 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”
Canaan represents the Spirit filled life. It is the victorious Christian life, and the victorious Christian life is the life the risen Christ lives through us in the big and small, that make up our daily lives. We appropriate His victorious life by faith. Notice in verse 3 that God’s instruction to Joshua on how to navigate the promised land was to simply, one step at a time, take what is already given. God said the victory in Christ, in every situation, is already yours; your job is to step into every situation by faith, with absolute certainty that the victory is already yours, because He is your victory. This is the Spirit-filled life; one step at a time thanking Him for being your victory.
Listen to what God says 3 times in this first chapter. Be daring in your faith. Be strong and courageous in your faith, ignoring feelings, and logic. Dare to believe; regardless of what you see, feel, or hear; with total certainty that that Jesus WILL BE your victory as you step into each new circumstance, and situation.
