Song 2:14 “O my dove, in the clefts of the rock,
In the secret place of the steep pathway,
Let me see your form,
Let me hear your voice;
For your voice is sweet,
And your form is lovely.”
Song 2:15 “Catch the foxes for us,
The little foxes that are ruining the vineyards,
While our vineyards are in blossom.”
As we advance in The Lord to new heights it’s not the “Lions, and Tigers, and Bears Oh My” that we have to be concerned with, but it’s the “Little Foxes” that we have to keep watch over. The Devil knows that in the times of victory we become very vulnerable because we are so busy celebrating a breakthrough that we stop being as vigilant. He doesn’t come to us in those times dressed in a red suit, with horns and a long tail. That would be too obvious, but instead, he comes to us as Little Foxes because it’s easy for them to slip in unnoticed; but make no mistake; they are lethal. Little Foxes are those little compromises; those little thoughts and attitudes that we choose to give into. Those subtle conversations, and behavior that aren’t near as bad as they once were. Jesus didn’t come with an improvement program; instead He came to set us free and to transform. Little Foxes always come when your vineyard (heart relationship with Jesus) is in blossom. We get deceived into thinking that dabbling a little bit with that sinful word of gossip, or criticalness, or that little thought of resentment or bitterness, etc. isn’t dangerous because it is not nearly as bad as where you once were in that sin. Satan knows that if you’ll just give into that little fox, without quickly repenting (just rationalizing it as not a big deal), that after tolerating the little foxes again and again, you’ll eventually be back to where you were before; entrapped, and in bondage.
