One Thing 11/8/22 Our new nature in Christ

Ezekiel 36:26 ESV

And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.

As a new creation in Christ and as a partaker of the new covenant, each of you has been given (as a free gift) a new heart. 2 Corinthians 5:21 says it this way; “For He made Him who knew no sin to become sin on our behalf that we might become the righteousness of God in Christ.” Your new heart that is your new nature in Christ is the righteousness of God 2 Peter 1 says that we have all become partakers of “the divine nature.” Because of your union with Christ, at “the heart” of who you are is goodness, and you long to walk in righteousness. The spiritually corrupt person who was by nature a child of wrath that you were in your lost condition was totally obliterated at the Cross. He did not just pay for what you did; He put to death in His death who you were. I love who I am in Christ, and I love that my new nature is in cahoots with my resurrected personality. I don’t always love what I do (because sometimes the enemy deceives me into thinking I’m still the old fallen self), but when I blow it, I own my stuff, thank God for His forgiveness, and remembering who I am in Christ I get up and start walking in the Spirit again one step at a time. The truth is, I don’t sin near as much as I want to because I don’t want to sin at all. My new nature is the righteousness of God that’s in Christ. That is my true heart. That is the real me. No self-rejection here. I just don’t have time for that kind of silliness that the enemy tries to gab about when speaking in my ears. I refuse to come into agreement with what the devil says about me, and I have put all of my eggs in the basket of what God says about me, of what the finished work of Christ says about me.
