One Thing 10/7/22 Trusting in the obedience of Christ

2 Corinthians 10:5

We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive into the obedience of Christ,

Because of our union with Christ, we are in union with His obedience. His surrendered heart is our surrendered heart. It is liberating to know that I am not called to try and get more surrendered. Instead, I am to step-by-step believe that the old independent self died 2000 years ago on the cross with Christ and that I am now yoked to His surrendered will to God. My choice to submit is simply my yes of faith to His submission. Grammatically 2 Corinthians 10:5 literally says, “we are to continually take every thought captive INTO the obedience of Christ.” We aren’t trying to wrestle down unrighteous thoughts to bring them into submission. We are to take every unrighteous thought and cast them onto Christ, into His obedience. Catching the little foxes and, by faith, handing them over to Jesus, who lives in you the life of holiness, is the way of grace.
