Arise, my darling, my beautiful one,
And come along!’”
Song 2:14 “O my dove, in the clefts of the rock,
In the secret place of the steep pathway,
Let me see your form,
Let me hear your voice;
For your voice is sweet,
And your form is lovely.”
Whenever Jesus calls us up to a new, higher place in Him, it is always first and foremost a call to elevated intimacy. Remember, God’s very nature is love, and He created us for love. We reveal what we most relate to; therefore intimacy with Jesus comes before bearing witness of Jesus. This verse always blesses me because it doesn’t just reiterate our need for His presence, but it reveals how He longs for ours. The word “form” is a Hebrew word that means, “sight, appearance, presence.” God loves you so much that He thrills at the very sight of you moving in His direction. He says that the sight of you is lovely, and that word “lovely” means “befitting, to fit, home.” In other words being in His presence, in the secret place, and hidden away in Him, as we live in the public arena, is our true home. His presence is where we belong. The amazing thing is, He is also saying We are His home. We are His abode, even as we are His. Remarkable.
