One Thing 10/28/14

Arise, my darling, my beautiful one,
And come along!’”
Song 2:14  “O my dove, in the clefts of the rock,
In the secret place of the steep pathway,
Let me see your form,
Let me hear your voice;
For your voice is sweet,
And your form is lovely.”

Have you ever wondered why finding time to pray is such a hard thing to do, or why when you do pray it seems so boring and tedious? It’s because there is such warfare to keep you from developing a secret place lifestyle. It does seem very steep getting there, and your many efforts and promises to pray more have fallen short, so that when it comes to cultivating a secret place lifestyle you carry a lot of quiet guilt and frustration. Part of our problem is that we’ve seen the climb to the secret place as a duty, like being made to eat your veggies as a kid, as opposed to being offered homemade brownies if you’ll just reach a little higher. Look at what this verse in Rev.4 says, “After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven, and the first voice which I had heard, like the sound of a trumpet speaking with me, said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after these things.”
The Secret Place is in Heaven, and thus prayer is an invitation to go up there. Prayer always happens in Heaven where God shares His presence, heart, and plans. It’s the most exciting place a human can ever visit. It’s our true home for we are citizens of Heaven. The sights and sounds there are indescribable, and His beauty is almost unbearable. To the degree that we abide in His presence in the Secret Place UP THERE hearing His voice, and He delighting in mine, will be the degree that we will carry His presence down here, being led by His voice.
