John 17:14 “I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
John 17:16 “They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
Therefore since you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 [a]Set your affections, and mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. 3 For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.
The Old Man died, and therefore the person that you once were, in and of the world, no longer exists. The person who lived below, who didn’t carry Eternal Life, was taken to the place of execution, in the crucifixion of Christ. You now posses the “life from above life,” which is seated in the Heavenly places in Christ. Since that is true, you must renew your mind to think like a person whose life has its ethos in the Heavenlies. Paul’s admonition is to seek, as a continual priority the things above, and to set your affections on things above, for that is where your true life and identity is found. The more you seek the things of Heaven and discover the New Creation you are, your affections for those things will grow. The mind of Christ is intoxicating and addictive. Seeing things, and living from a heavenly reality is an extraordinarily freeing way to live.
