A truly surrendered life is always a response to the love of God; not an attempt to gain God’s love. One of the DNA verses of Scripture is song of Solomon 7:10, “I am my beloved’s, And his desire is for me.” The word “desire” in that verse is a unique word that is only used three times in the Old Testament. Let me give you a definition of what that word actually means in all of its glory in the Hebrew language; “A longing for someone so strong that you turn from all others and run with devotion to that person, with a single minded preoccupation, to love them and to care for them and to be loved by them.”
This is a confession and declaration that every believer can make about themselves. We belong to him but of all the things in all the universe, and it all the galaxies, we are His magnificent Obsession. This is how he feels about us, and has nothing to do with our performance, or our spiritual maturity. Look at what song of Solomon 4:7 says about how HE feels about us; “You are altogether beautiful my love, and there is no spot or blemish in you.” You might be saying to yourself that there are obvious spots and blemishes in you, and it is important for you to understand that Jesus knows more about those than you do, but that does not change the way he feels about you. To Him, you are beautiful, and he feels about you with such love, that you are perfect to him, even though he knows you’re not yet perfect in your walk, or ever will be until you see him face-to-face. Part of living by faith is coming into agreement with God about the way he feels about you, for when you can do that, then you will want to radically yield all of your life and mess to him, and will have a foundation to live by faith, for faith works through love. Micah 7:18 says that God delights in his unending love for you. Let that sink deep down inside of you; God delights in you, and he delights in loving you
