Psalm 66:1-5 NASB
[1] … Shout joyfully to God, all the earth; [2] Sing the glory of His name; Make His praise glorious. [3] Say to God, “How awesome are Your works! Because of the greatness of Your power Your enemies will give feigned obedience to You. [4] “All the earth will worship You, And will sing praises to You; They will sing praises to Your name.” Selah. [5] Come and see the works of God, Who is awesome in His deeds toward the sons of men. …
Feigned obedience means that someone bows down in obedience even though it’s not in their heart to do so. It is the demonstration of the greatness of God’s power that causes the enemy to bow down before God, even though Satan would prefer not to. Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil, and if we as Christians are going to see the powers of darkness bow down before the name of Jesus, then we as carriers of Christ, must exhibit the greatness of God’s power in miracles and signs and wonders. This is not optional, and it is God’s will for every believer to walk in, and demonstrate Christ likeness. Christ likeness is not just about holy character, but is also the manifestation of God’s glorious power through the believer. We are the only body that Jesus has on this earth, and Jesus desires to live the same life through us now that he lived then, displayed on the pages of Scripture. The life that Jesus lived was a miraculous one, and the life he wants to live now through us is also miraculous one. Demonstrating the miraculous should be commonplace among yielded believers because that is the normal life that Jesus lives. One of the great Christian books that affected my life profoundly many years ago was the “The Normal Christian Life,” by Watchmen Nee. I love the title of that book, because so many Christians have redefined what normal looks like, and have settled for less them all that Jesus wants to do in them and through them. The normal Christian life is the life Jesus lived then, lived now, by Him, through us. Don’t settle for anything less that “Normal.”
