Philippians 1:27 NASB95
Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or remain absent, I will hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind contending together for the faith of the gospel;
I love that phrase, “the faith of the gospel.” As I’m sure you know, the word “gospel” means “good news.” The word actually carry’s the idea of good news that is so good it changes everything. The good news is so stunning that faith is it’s natural consequence. A Christian should NEVER be pessimistic, or cynical. We are “good news” people, and faith should be our constant disposition. Being in Christ we are surrounded by hope, and hope is the habitation of childlike faith. Romans 5:2 says that we are standing in grace. It doesn’t say we are just standing on grace; it says that we are actually standing in grace. Every step we take, no matter what circumstances we might be walking through, we are always up to our elbows in grace. Therefore, knowing that good news will certainly prevail, faith just happens.
