Instead of waiting for revival to show up like a holy bomb being dropped out of heaven, the Father is waiting for each of us to step into the normal Christian life. Sadly, many Christians have settled for a subpar Christian experience and are calling it normal so that when something special happens, it gets a name like revival. I’m all for revival, and am believing for the whole body of Christ to come into revival, but revival is just a restoration to Christlike normality. Because we’ve made it sound like something special when the Holy Spirit is supernaturally moving in and through a Christian’s life, it makes people feel that it is a super deluxe model that only a select few can attain. Everything about the Christian life is special, and supernatural, and this special supernatural way of living is normal and has already been accomplished for every believer in the finished work of Christ on the cross. You are a Christian because you are in union with Jesus, and your union with Jesus has joined you to the special, supernatural kind of life that Jesus daily lives. This amazing supernatural life is not something that you have to achieve by jumping through a bunch of spiritual-looking hoops. Instead, this life is someone you have already received, and all you have to do is “put on” (literally = sink into – surrendered to) the life of Christ within and start believing one little step at a time. The normal Christian life is what we’ve come to call “revival.” It really doesn’t matter what you call it, as long as you personally enter into the good of rivers of living water flowing out of your innermost being. Revival is the life that Jesus lives, and He lives that life in you. Let Him flow!
