John 10:27 NASB95
My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me;
To follow Jesus is not to memorize biblical accounts of the life and activity of Jesus and then imitate them in real time life experiences. We are in union with Christ; thus He lives in us. To follow Him therefore is to hear His voice within and surrender to His “way” in every situation. The incarnate Christ in union with the Father only did those things He saw the Father doing, and only made decisions based on what He heard the Father saying- John 5:19,30. Jesus did nothing on His own initiative. We are called to walk out our union with Christ in the same way. Because we have been hard wired to Jesus, we are hard wired to hear His voice, and every time we hear the “word of Christ” we get to actively live by faith, following His lead. When we follow the One who is leading from the inside of us, the “otherness” of Jesus becomes our experiential existence. Abiding in the “sacred” is the gloriously joyful life of holiness that is the authentic Christianity the world longs to behold.
