Did you know that Jesus has never been intimidated? No matter who was standing in front of him, threatening verbally or physically, he never felt intimidated. I say that in light of the fact that you have been grafted into union with someone who doesn’t get intimidated. Allowing Jesus to live his life through you is to live an intimidated-free life. You see, we are not trying to be like Christ; instead, we are bringing every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, allowing him to live his life of godliness through us. Romans 6:10 – 11 says, “For the death that he died, he died to sin once and for all; but the life that he is living, he is living to God. Even so, consider yourselves dead to sin but living to God in Christ.” To be a Christian is to be in Christ. To be in Christ is to be a Christian, and because we are in union with him, we get to participate in the life he lives before God. “… as he is, so also are we in this world.” 1 John 4:17c. It is impossible to walk in love while at the same time, feeling intimidated because you will be too busy insecurely trying to protect yourself instead of giving yourself away. Jesus is perfect love, and perfect love casts out fear. It is possible to live free from the crippling emotions of fear and insecurity because Jesus said, “He who the Son sets free shall be free indeed.”
