Have you ever had an area in your life that you were desperate to have victory over, but you just couldn’t overcome? No matter how much faith you tried to muster up you it just never seemed to be enough to get your breakthrough? I was talking to the Lord about something one time, and I was telling Him that if believing was the key to victory, I just couldn’t seem to believe enough or to believe in the right way. He immediately spoke to me and said, “It’s not about what you believe, Chuck; it’s about what I believe.” I realized what He was saying to me. He was saying that just like I was forgiven from the Cross two thousand years ago, He had already conquered that sin for me two thousand years ago. He didn’t just bear my sin at Calvary; He bore the sinner, and in Him, the slave to sin (the old self) was crucified. He accomplished that, and He believes thoroughly in what He accomplished. The Lord was telling me to get my eyes off of my faith and to, thankfully, rest in Him as my victory. Do you see the difference between trying to have enough faith and trusting in His faith-fullness in His own finished work? 1 Corinthians 15:57 says, “But thanks be to God who is continually giving us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Jesus conquered the reign of sin at the Cross, and as we simply look to Him who is living through us, He who is the victory will manifest that reality. It’s not about you and what you believe. Living by faith is our trust in Him Who is the author and perfecter of our faith. Mustard seed faith is swallowed up by His mountain moving faith, the One who is the mountain mover.
