Romans 8:2 NASB95
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.
Notice that it doesn’t say in that verse that Christ will set you free from the law of sin and death. It says that Christ has set you free from the law of sin and death.
Sadly, most Christians are fighting for a place of victory in different areas in their lives from which they can stand, instead of standing in a place of victory in every area of their life from which they can fight. We are called to fight the good fight of faith and not the good fight for faith. Our faith is in the finished work of Christ. He has already overcome and is prepared to manifest every victory through us as we simply thank Him in childlike faith. We shouldn’t spend all of our time trying to fight against sin. Jesus has already won that fight in our place and on our behalf.
The enemy of our soul is a thief. He is a trespasser, and a trespasser walks on ground that doesn’t belong to them. The very fact that he is called a thief means that he tries to take things that aren’t his and are already yours. You and I are in Christ, and the Father has put all things in subjection under the feet of Jesus. As His body, if that is true about Him, then it is also true about us. His position of victory is our position of victory. By the way, His position, and ours in Him, is a seated position in the heavenly places. We rest in His resting position of completed victory and reigning authority. We fight the good fight of faith from a resting position in His finished work.
