“I don’t obsess over anything; instead, I possess everything.”
This is what the Lord spoke into me, as I was obsessing about something. If I’m not circumspect, I can be a professional Obsessor. The most dominate flavor of my flesh is fear, and fear always gives both to obsessive thinking. I knew when the Jesus spoke those words in me, He wasn’t just informing me that He wasn’t an obsessive thinker; I knew He was inviting me to let His words abide in me- John 15:7. He was giving me an opportunity to sink into Him, and instead of obsessing, simply rest in the fact that He possesses all things.
Of course, Jesus doesn’t cause all things, but He does take possession of all things and causes them to work together for my good. Ps. 138:8 says, “The Lord will perfect all things concerning me.” Sometimes people ask me if I believe in man’s free will, or do I believe that God is sovereign. My answer is always, “Yes!” Of course I believe in man’s free will, but of course, I also believe that God is in control. How can they both be true? I don’t know; they just are. I think God for mysteries, because that takes the pressure off of me of having to understand everything before I will believe. Again, being in control, doesn’t mean that he causes everything. It simply means, that being in control He’s capable of causing everything to work together for good. I don’t know about you, but I am very grateful that I don’t have to obsess over things, but can instead simply rest in the One who possesses all things.
