John 16:12-15 NASB
“I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear (steward) them at the present time. [13] But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. [14] He will glorify Me, for He will take what is Mine and will disclose it to (in) you. [15] All things that the Father has are Mine; this is why I said that He takes from Mine and will disclose it to (in) you.
I have pondered these verses many times over the years, and the more I meditate on them the more blown away I get. The role of the Holy Spirit in us is to make real to us the voice and the presence of Jesus. Jesus said that He was the “truth,” and the Holy Spirit, as the Spirit of truth dwells in us to guide us into all things Jesus. In that role the Holy Spirit doesn’t even speak on His own, but He glorifies the indwelling Christ, revealing all that Jesus is and has in us. In verse fifteen Jesus says, “All that the Father has are Mine.” Let your imagination run wild! All the favor that Jesus has with the Father you have (because of your union with Christ), and it is the Holy Spirit’s privilege to guide you into the revelation and realization of that wonder.
