A few years ago I was with a team in Jinja, Uganda near the Nile river doing some ministry. One afternoon we ministered in a small church who’s building was incomplete to a group of people who had come to be prayed for and hear the word. We had already seen the Holy Spirit do amazing things on this trip, so we anticipated, once again, for the kingdom of God to be demonstrated. Six Muslim ladies showed up just before our meeting started because they thought, having heard about people being healed from the days before, that we were a medical team. They were all sick and had come to receive medicine. It has always been interesting that these Muslim ladies were willing to come and receive medical help from a group of Christians, but the truth is, when people are desperate and they believe they can find relief, religious barriers become very irrelevant.
Jesus made it really clear in my spirit but I wasn’t supposed to share the gospel first and try to lead these women to Christ, but instead, we would have a time of ministry first and then let the preaching come at the end. The Lord wanted us to demonstrate His true nature, and the nature of His kingdom to these women, and then bringing them into the kingdom would be easy. We prayed for a number people during that ministry time, and most the people that we pray for, if not all, got healed, including these six Muslim women. When time came for me to preach and give an invitation for those who did not know Jesus to come to his kingdom, all these Muslim women eagerly said yes to Jesus, even though they knew there would be a social, and religious price to pay. In their healing they encountered the nature of God, and the nature of his kingdom, and any God that was that good, and whose kingdom was that good, and that powerful, they wanted to be a part of it. You and I are carriers of Christ, seated in heavenly places in Him; and therefore we are called to manifest the reality of his life, and His kingdom, of which we are citizens. Leading people to Christ is not a hard thing to do, once they have encountered Him and His kingdom through us. This is our assignment.
