Psalm 18:11 NASB
[11] He made darkness His hiding place, His canopy around Him, Darkness of waters, thick clouds of the skies.
Isaiah 45:3 NASB
[3] “I will give you hoardes the treasures of darkness And hidden wealth of secret places, So that you may know that it is I, The LORD, the God of Israel, who calls you by your name.
There are times in our Christian walk when we will walk through dark places, because we still live in a fallen world. Our tendency as Westerners is to always want to know what’s going on, and why it is happening, because we like to be in control, but the reality is that we will walk through seasons of dark times without really understanding what happened to get us there. One of the temptations, and I believe this is where the great warfare is, is to believe that in those dark places, God is hiding from us, or has somehow abandoned us. How many times have you walked through a dark place and your prayer was “God, where are you.” Here’s what you need understand; when you walk through darkness, God is not hiding from you, instead, he is hiding for you in that place of darkness, and is waiting to encounter you there, to deposit the hordes of treasures spiritually He has for you. Again, when you walk through darkness do not believe the lie that God has hidden himself from you, because the truth is, He is hiding in the darkness with treasures He has hoarded up for you, that he wants to deposit in you in that place of desperation and intimacy. It seems that the times of pruning always become the times of greatest harvest in our lives. Don’t be afraid of the dark places, for in that place hidden wealth has been hoarded up for you, and He, the Lover of your soul is waiting for you. If you understand what I’m saying to you and in your dark place seek Him there, knowing He waits for you to make you wealthy, then when you come out of that place, and you will come out of it, it will be said about you, “Who is this coming out of the wilderness, leaning on her beloved.”
