Luke 21:28 “But when these things begin to take place, straighten up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”
Eph. 1:7; In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace
Col. 1:14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
1 Cor. 1:30 But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption.
The word redemption in its most basic form comes from two words, “release” and “from.”
Jesus, in Luke 21, promised that our redemption was drawing near, and of course, He was speaking of the Cross, for in Him at the Cross, we were released from sin, the law, the inadequacy of self-effort, Satan, and death. That is a historical reality, but the cool thing is that in Him, we have redemption as a daily present-tense reality. What do I mean by that? Did He accomplish redemption, or is He accomplishing redemption now? The answer is YES!! In Him, my freedom from evil from totally accomplished by Him 2000 years ago, because in Him the old self that was in bondage was crucified, and buried, and raised up a free person in Him, in His resurrection; but also, because I live in Union with Him every day, He is alive in me manifesting that union every day. He won the victory then, and He manifests my freedom, or release from all my fallenness, moment by moment. In Him, we have, not hope to have or pray to have, full freedom and victory right now.
