Romans 6:10-11 AMP [10] For the death that He died, He died to sin [ending its power and paying the sinner’s debt] once and for all; and the life that He lives, He lives to [glorify] God [in unbroken fellowship with Him]. [11] Even so, consider yourselves to be dead to sin [and your relationship to it broken], but alive to God [in unbroken fellowship with Him] in Christ Jesus.
Have you been crying out to God to set you free from a particular sin because you want to live in unbroken fellowship with Him? Well, I’ve got some good news for you. Jesus has already taken care of that. Jesus took on your sin. Actually, He took on the sinful you, and in His death, you paid sin’s penalty, for He died as you. He died for our sin, and in doing so, He also died as you, to sin’s power. Jesus became sin on our behalf, and in His death, His relationship to sin and its power over Him was forever broken, and He now lives in unbroken fellowship with the Father. Verse 11 says HIS DEATH TO SIN WAS MY DEATH TO SIN, for I was in Him at the Cross. Romans 6 also tells us that we were in Him in His resurrection, and therefore, in Him now, I share His unbroken fellowship with the Father. That sin you have been longing to be delivered from, you were delivered from 2000 years ago. Spiritually, when you were Born Again, you were Born Free from that sin’s grip, and the unbroken fellowship you so desire is already yours because you are in Christ, sharing His life and His relationship to sin and to the Father. The Gospel is the best news ever!
