Jer. 2:13 “For My people have committed two evils:
They have forsaken Me,
The fountain of living waters,
To hew for themselves cisterns,
Broken cisterns
That can hold no water.”
Psa. 87:7 Then those who sing as well as those who play the flutes shall say,
“All my springs are in you.”
“Possess the source, then you have the stream.”
We exhaust ourselves spiritually and emotionally trying to live a good Christian life out of sincere desires to please God. The sad reality is that even though we are giving God our best, we don’t realize that, in the process, we are refusing His best. You see in our effort to do our best for Him, we’ve become like buckets with holes in them. We read the bible, or pray, or do some other devotional act to get all filled up, and then we go out into real life trying to be holy. We soon discover that our emotional and spiritual buckets are quickly empty, and emptiness is all we have to give.
The problem is, we’ve either never known or have forgotten that we already have an endless, overflowing source living within us. That source of course is Jesus Himself in whom is all of our springs.
Think of any need you have. If it is the need for love toward someone; then He is your spring for that. Is it patience, then He is your spring for that. Is it strength, power, anointing, forgiveness, wisdom, peace, etc… then ALL your springs are in Him. He is the Heavenly fountain, from which the rivers of living water flow. That is God’s best already resident in us, from which we draw all grace, to live holy lives. We have two options; our best for Him or His best through us.
