Rom.14:9, ”For to this end Christ died and lived again, that He might be Lord both of the dead and of the living.”
1Cor.6:19, “Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought with a price;”
Matt.20:15, “ Is it not my right to do what I will with what is my own?”
If you want to experience living through you the life of the Lord, then He has to reign in you as the Lord of your life. If you want to be used by Him without restriction, then you have to be consumed by Him without reservation. Jesus can’t be anything other than Himself, and He is Lord. Therefore, if you long for Him to release His fullness in and through you, then He must do it as Lord, because that is who He is. Wherever He lives, He must reign. For Jesus to reign as the Lord of your life obviously means for you to be obedient in both the big and the small things of life; but those words from verse 15 in Matthew 20 gives us insight into all that Lordship means. Again, He has the right to ask us to do anything, but He also has the right to take away anything or to place anything in our lives that He chooses.
Maybe you did not realize that when you gave your life to Jesus, you gave your life to a Lord. Christianity is not a democracy, it is a personal theocracy where Christ alone rules. We were pre-paid for at the cross, and the moment we were born again we acknowledge His ownership. You may not have surrendered to His ownership yet but you belong the Him, and He can do what He wills with His own. Of course, it is a benevolent LOVER-LORD, and He loves us relentlessly and unconditionally, but make no mistake, He is the only one with true rights in your relationship with Him.
Have you learned that your safest place, and the place of unlimited freedom and blessing, is in surrendering to His total ownership of your life? Are you at the place where you are rejoicing in whatever He gives daily and rejoicing in whatever He chooses to take?
