1John 3:19-21 We will know by this that we are of the truth, and will assure our heart before Him in whatever our heart condemns us; for God is greater than our heart and knows all things. Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God;
These verses tell us a number of really important things, but there are a few that I want us to see in this battle against guilt and condemnation. If we live in the unholy fire of guilt and the fear of God’s rejection then we can’t live a life of faith. The ministry of condemnation that the enemy lays on us tells us that we can’t believe God for this or that because we don’t deserve it, and He has at some level backed off of us. If our hearts are condemning us, we lose our confidence before God.
That word “before” is literally the word “toward” God. Put simply, Guilt results in Unbelief. God wants us to live in confidence before Him, and the devil knows if he can keep us busy trying to fight the fires of guilt, and worthlessness, we will stay in the realm of insecurity, instead of faith. Always remember that it’s the Truth that sets us free. The truth is, according to theses verses, that in any place where your heart condemns you, be assured that is not from God. Instead assure your hearts that the God who knows everything (and I mean ALL things) is greater than your heart, and He is not condemning you, or threatening to abandon you. Persuade your heart today to stand in the truth; eventually your emotions will come around.
You are In The Beloved. That is the realm you have citizenship, and there is NO condemnation for those who are In Christ Jesus (IN THE BELOVED). Praise God that we are In the Beloved, and not in the condemned.
