Jude 1 Jude, a bond-servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, ¶ To those who are the called, beloved in God the Father, and kept for Jesus Christ:
Eph. 1:18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,
We all know that Christ and the riches of His presence is our inheritance. We know that experientially in part now, but the fullness of our inheritance is reserved for us in Heaven. Even more amazing to me is that we are His inheritance. The King of King has an inheritance and that eternal inheritance is you and me.
The Father has promised His Son an eternal companion, a Bride. Though we have, as His bride, received the engagement ring (The Holy Spirit), the wedding is yet to come. We are called His Bride now, but that union won’t be fully realized until the end of this age. To understand your identity as His bride, His Eternal Companion, is to fully understand your destiny In Christ.
Look at those last words in Jude 1. We are The Called, Beloved, and KEPT FOR JESUS CHRIST. Those words aren’t about eternal security, though I guess that’s there too, but it’s about the wedding, the union, our eternal destiny as the Bride of Christ. He didn’t say kept In Christ, or kept by Christ, but KEPT FOR Christ.
As much as we look forward to life in Heaven and thus long for His coming, even more He longs for your arrival, for you are being kept FOR Him. His dowry was the most expensive one ever paid. He was willing because, to Him you are “the most beautiful of all,” and “delightful with all your charms,” S.S.1:8; 7:6.
He has been madly and desperately in love for you for so very, very long. There is Going to be a Wedding!!!!!!
