Rom. 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
What a powerful word! It’s actually one of the hardest truths to accept, because the accuser of the brethren seems to always be there making us feel condemned and disqualified. The key phrase is “In Christ.” This is the great phrase of the New Creation. Because we are In Christ everything has changed; everything has been made new. If you are a Christian then you are In Christ, and as a result of that His history, and His story is your story. When He went to the Cross He took who you were (the old man) with Him to the place of execution, and in Him the guilty sinner who was condemned before God, died and was buried In Christ’s death and burial. You have been deemed to have died in Christ, our substitute, for your spiritual crimes. You have been justified before a righteous God, and the guilty sinner has paid his debt, for all time in the person of Christ. The Old Man stood under condemnation, and under the wrath of God, but the New Creation stands In Christ innocent before a just God. When we do fail, we appeal to a just God whose justice has been forever satisfied in the sacrifice of Christ, and again and again appropriate the grace of forgiveness. He won’t; He can’t condemn you, because the Old Man has already been punished and paid his debt In Christ, and you aren’t the Old Man. You are free to grow and be transformed before His cherishing acceptance, for you don’t have to exhaust your emotional energy constantly putting out the fires of condemnation and rejection. Praise Jesus, THERE IS THEREFORE (in light of the Cross) NO!!!! CONDEMNATION FOR THOSE WHO ARE IN CHRIST JESUS.
