Eph. 1:13-14 In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation — having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of His glory.
Eph. 1:18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,
So much preaching and teaching in the Church today is all about coming into our inheritance In Christ, and advancing in our destiny. As teachers and prophets we are rightfully concerned about people being encouraged and becoming all they can be in their walk with Jesus. The problem is, it can take on a kind of narcissistic journey. To be valid, every longing must be Christo-Centric. We can’t separate enjoying our inheritance, and possessing our possessions In Christ, from Christ owning His inheritance, and possessing His possessions.
You see, our destiny is totally wrapped up in His destiny. In our baptism we were plunged into His story, His life. Therefore we will never advance in our destiny until our full hearts and humanity are made totally available to Him, so that He once again has a Body through which to live and a Bride in which to pour His love. He being my Love and Life is my inheritance and destiny.
If we aren’t careful we can communicate that our inheritance and destiny is something that comes from His hand, instead of something I experience ABIDING in His PRESENCE, ADORING in His PASSION. We need to spend much more time telling people what it means to be His inheritance so that we can rest in the adventure of participating in His destiny. No future could be more fascinating, and exhilarating.
