John 10:10 “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.
1Th. 5:24 Faithful is he that calls you, who also will do it.
When you become a Christian your life is baptized, immersed, into His life and His story is still being told on the earth. Being in Him, He now tells His story through your story by living His life through you. It is the open mystery of our union with Christ. It is the message of the New Testament, and at the heart of who you are as a new creation. He came that you might have life and life more abundant, and His guarantee is that HE CAME. He didn’t come to give you that life as some gift He gives away; He came to be that life lived out through your humanity in union with Him. He had to come so you could HAVE IT because it requires His presence, because actually, growth in the Christian life isn’t getting more of an IT; Christian growth is experiencing more of a PERSON. He came that you might have LIFE. We aren’t after more experiences: we are after experiencing more of Him, which of course is the greatest experience a human can have.
I don’t know about you but I’m not seeking anymore zaps at the latest conference, though I’m grateful when they happen; instead I’m after a LIFE (or I could say a LIFE is after me) that’s just as supernatural in my den or at my office, as much as it is being at or leading a conference. I thank God for encounters, but I want a LIFE that works in all of life all of the time in the glamorous and the grit. He is prepared to demonstrate, through any totally yielded soul, His faithfulness by doing through you everything He has called you to do, in all the big and small details that make up your life. This is the glorious adventure that is the Christian life that releases redeemed men and women, boys and girls, unto the glorious liberty of the children of God.
