1Cor. 15:57 But thanks be to God, Who gives us the victory [making us conquerors] through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Victory comes in a person and His victory is total. Of all that Christ is to us, one of the most precious and important is that He Is Our Victory. He didn’t come to improve my performance as far as sin is concerned, He came to be my total victory. If Christ is my life, and if by faith I am reckoning on Him as my life, how often should I expect Him to be defeated by sin? Of course, unfortunately, there are those times when we choose to forget to remember to deliberately count on Him as our Victor, but as long long as we restfully look to Him, His victory is total, not partial. The Christian life is not a set of ideas or a mystical ideal, it is, from beginning to end, a Person and my experience of that Person. John 17:3. Victory over sins power isn’t found in a step, or a prayer, or some confession, or formula, it is a Person who is instantly prepared to enforce His victory every time we count on Him in simple faith.
