Eph. 1:7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace 8 which He lavished on us. In all wisdom and insight 9 He made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His kind intention which He purposed in Him 10 with a view to an administration suitable to the fullness of the times, that is, the summing up of all things in Christ, things in the heavens and things on the earth. In Him 11 also we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will,
Verse 10 is a really hard verse to translate, but if translated literally it simply says that God’s redemptive plan, which will bring praise to the glory of His grace, is to release everything in heaven and earth from the captivity of the Fall, to the point that mankind and all created things “get it all together” in Christ, under His Lordship. You see, all meaning, all identity, all worth, and purpose are found in Christ who is to have pre-eminence. Later in that same chapter, we are told that the gift of the Holy Spirit is the pledge, or engagement ring, of God’s redemptive plan, of summing up all things in Christ. The outpouring of the Holy Spirit is the leaven that begins the leavening of all things with the power of new creation. On a personal note, you will never get “your act together” apart from Jesus. Only in Him, can we “get it all together,” and He sent His Spirit into our hearts, as His incarnational presence to us, to begin the work of releasing us from the captivity of shattered lives, and living, and to put us back together spiritually, emotionally, mentally, relationally, and ultimately even physically. Don’t listen to the lie of the devil that tells you that you are falling apart; instead stand on the word of God and declare that you are being redeemed, and that you are “getting it all together,” because you are in Christ, and He has “it all together.”
