Acts 17:24 The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands; 25 nor is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all people life and breath and all things;

Rev. 4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

Notice what Paul says about God in verse 25 of Acts 17. He states that God is totally self-contained, and self-sufficient. God doesn’t need anything. What blesses me so, when I think about that truth is that God doesn’t love me because he needs me; instead, He loves me purely because He wants me. There is something about you and me that He delights in. He loves you because it brings Him pleasure. That so blesses me because much of our love for each other is because we depend on each other. We need each other, and that’s not a bad thing, but it is awesome to know that there is someone who loves me just because I am desirable. That gives me such a sense of significance. The enemy lies to us when we sin or fail in some way by telling us that God doesn’t love us as much in those moments, because at those times we aren’t as useful to God. Acts 17:25, reminds us that God doesn’t love us more when we are most useful to Him; instead He loves us simply because it brings Him pleasure to do so, not because we’ve earned it by our performance. Micah 7:18 says, God “delights in unending love.” Unending means just that; no variance. Let these words from Is. 62 sink deep into your heart.

Isaiah 62:3 You will also be a crown of beauty in the hand of the LORD,

And a royal diadem in the hand of your God.4 It will no longer be said to you, “Forsaken,”

Nor to your land will it any longer be said, “Desolate”;

But you will be called, “My delight is in her,”

And your land, “Married”;

For the LORD delights in you,

And to Him your land will be married.

5 For as a young man marries a virgin,

So your sons will marry you;

And as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride,

So your God will rejoice over you.

God loves you and me because He delights in you and me. There is no other reason. He finds pleasure in loving you, and His greatest pleasure is knowing you find pleasure in Him loving you. What an awesome God!!!
